BEFORE OPERATIONS PMCS
Perform these checks before every mission or movement. Items marked NFMC will prevent the vehicle from being dispatched.

Check engine oil level — must be between MIN and MAX on dipstick; use correct viscosity per temperature
Check coolant level in surge tank — must be at FULL COLD line; check for leaks at hoses and connections
Check transmission fluid level — must be between MIN and MAX on dipstick (engine warm, running)
Check final drive oil levels (left and right) — must be at fill plug level on both sides
Check hydraulic oil level — must be between MIN and MAX; check for leaks at lines and fittings
Check fuel level — fill to required level; inspect fuel tank, lines, and fittings for leaks
Check battery electrolyte level — must be 3/8 inch above plates; check terminals and cables for corrosion
Check track tension — must be 3–5 inches of sag at center of top run; adjust if outside limits
Inspect track pads — no missing, cracked, or excessively worn pads; check track pins and end connectors
Check road wheel condition — no cracked, missing, or excessively worn road wheels; check mounting bolts
Inspect drive sprockets — no cracked or missing teeth; check mounting hardware for tightness
Check idler wheels — no cracked or damaged idlers; check idler arm and adjustment
Inspect 155mm howitzer barrel — check bore evacuator, muzzle brake, and barrel for cracks or damage
Check breech mechanism — inspect breech ring, block, and firing mechanism for proper operation
Check recoil mechanism — inspect recoil cylinder for leaks; verify recoil fluid level at correct level
Check equilibrators — inspect for leaks and proper tension; verify gun elevation is balanced
Check turret traverse mechanism — traverse full 360°; no binding, jerking, or unusual noise
Check gun elevation mechanism — elevate and depress through full range; no binding or unusual noise
Check all lights — headlights, taillights, brake lights, blackout lights, and turret lights
Check fire suppression system — Halon bottles charged; sensors and wiring intact; no warning lights
Check intercom and radio equipment — all crew positions communicate; radios power up and operate
Check NBC overpressure system (if equipped) — filter condition, seals, and blower operation
NFMC — No Further Movement Criteria. Any fault on an NFMC item means the vehicle is non-mission-capable and must not be dispatched until repaired. Annotate on DA Form 5988 immediately.
